Zolani Care Trust

The Zolani Care Trust News Flash Page.

It is awesome to see how things are coming to a head. We have not only had the land around the church awarded to us but also the two plots in front of the church as a guarantee of future access! If you think that is exceptional just listen. We had our building plans approved before the land was transferred into our name!  Unheard of.
  • The Skills Training Centre will be finished this week and once the plumbing is completed it can be handed over to use.
  • The Community Facility which is the second stage has its walls up, roof trusses delivered and by next Wednesday the 7th May the Dutch building team hope to have put a roof on.

  • It is then a question of available money which will govern how much can be done to complete the work.

  • The speed with which the Dutch team has worked has ben incredible as has the quality. They have not accepted the suppliers saying 'next week', instead they have themselves gone out and found the materials so the work can be done.
Our sincere thanks go to Conkim the Dutch company for their so commited effort for this project. Our prayer is that their own business and all the employees and all the volunteers who came will have an incredible sense of 'WELL DONE'.

You can get an update on the building by visiting www.zolani.blogspot.com Han who creates this blog is the co-ordinator between Conkim of Holland, the constuction company, and Zolani. There is a translation facility on the blog site.
  • Now of course we have the responsibility of making best use of this amazing facility. The immediate need is to move Zolani Wood into the Skills Centre, they are losing their Montagu workshop at the end of June. We are in discussions with SETA to help us design training courses and to provide funding of teachers and tutors.  This is the professional approach. At the same time we will set up local trade courses to help people become qualified to work and the most promising to perhaps start their own business in Zolani, which we will help them with.
  •  All of this will require funding which we are working on.
  • The immediate use of the community facility is to provide a classroom for the school. We are required to separate the 3-4 year old playgroup pupils from the rising 5 year olds. This will need an extra teacher plus a lot of equipment - more money we have to raise. The good thing about raising money is that although we may knock on  a few doors, in the main it is individuals who are moved by the plight of these very needy children who give.

  • We now have to fence the school to make it safe. Install another door in the church ( required for safety reasons for the children) We also have to dig out a ramp between the new buildings and the church to allow the pupils to get accross and the workshop to have vehicle access.  This is the Trust's responsibility which we will do as funds permit.

This is all great news and really enables us to serve this community so much better.
